Pearl GTL Storage Facility

Shell selected CB&I to design and build a storage facility for the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) production complex in Ras Laffan, Qatar. CB&I will provide the full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of this project. The work scope for the project comprises two storage farms, with 6 tanks at the harbor site and another 32 at the main complex. When completed there will be a combined storage capacity of 900,000 cubic meters and 120 km of piping systems. CB&I is also responsible for all associated mechanical, civil, building, electrical and instrumentation works for the project. The onsite work force is expected to peak above 2,000 employees. When the Pearl GTL complex is completed, it is expected that this facility will be the largest GTL complex in the world.
