SharpEye and SafEye Detectors Implemented in Ichthys Project

The Ichthys Project aims to develop a gas and condensate field roughly 130 miles (200km) off the north-west coast of Australia.

Operated by INPEX, the project is a joint venture with major partner Total and various Japanese and Taiwanese gas companies, and is due to begin production in 2016.

The project, which is the first of its size to be operated by a Japanese company, has installed more than 500 SharpEye IR3 flame detectors and 200 SafEye Open Path Gas Detectors.

A wide range of flame detectors are available, from ultra-fast (msec) detection time to high-sensitivity hydrocarbon and hydrogen flame detection, in addition to the equally large OPGD range that detects hazardous gases such as flammable hydrocarbons, toxic ammonia and hydrogen sulfide.
