Jacobs wins engineering services contract for Australia Pacific LNG facility

Date:

Jacobs Engineering Group has secured an engineering services agreement from ConocoPhillips to support the sustaining capital programme for the Australia Pacific LNG facility.

Located on Curtis Island in Queensland, Australia, the facility features two LNG trains, each with a production capacity of 4.5Mtpa of LNG.

The first LNG export from the project’s initial train is expected in mid-2015, with train two anticipated in 2016.

“This sustaining capital agreement supports our client focused, long term project programme strategy in Australia, and we look forward to leveraging our global capability to support ConocoPhillips and the Australia Pacific LNG team in their goal to maintain a safe, efficient LNG facility.”

The deal requires Jacobs to carry out engineering studies and provide front-end engineering design services, and detail design including procurement, commissioning and construction support for sustaining capital and mid-cap projects.

The agreement, which will initially four years, has the option to extend for another four years.

Jacobs Group vice president Phil Lory said: “This sustaining capital agreement supports our client focused, long term project programme strategy in Australia, and we look forward to leveraging our global capability to support ConocoPhillips and the Australia Pacific LNG team in their goal to maintain a safe, efficient LNG facility.”

Origin Energy and ConocoPhillips each own a 37.5% stake in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, while the remaining 25% is held by Sinopec.

Australia Pacific LNG presently supplies about 40% of Queensland’s gas requirements.

The project has two offtake agreements for the LNG, 7.6mtpa to Sinopec, and 1mtpa to Kansai Electric, both for 20 years.
