ITC Global has secured a contract to provide very small aperture terminal (VSAT) connectivity across more than half of Denmark-based Maersk Drilling’s global fleet of offshore drilling rigs.
Under the three-year contract, ITC Global will provide the connectivity with voice as well as data services for remote personnel enabling them to stay connected with corporate offices and maintain business operations.
ITC’s VSAT solution includes equipment, installation, 24/7 network monitoring and support.
By deploying services to Maersk’s nine offshore rigs spanning across the North Sea, West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and South East Asia, ITC will modernise the systems on-board to provide a better service to the rigs.
“As the industry continues to experience some unpredictability, oil and gas customers are reviewing their partner relationships and looking for the most efficient, best overall value solutions.”
Installations are expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of this year.
ITC Global sales and business development vice-president Richard Elson said: “As the industry continues to experience some unpredictability, oil and gas customers are reviewing their partner relationships and looking for the most efficient, best overall value solutions.
“While some VSAT providers are focused on consolidations and cost cuts, ITC Global has responded to the dynamics of today’s operating environment by emerging as the go-to provider, focused on reliability and technical excellence to help customers design and implement cost-efficient network solutions.”
Last month, Panasonic completed its previously announced acquisition of ITC Global, with the company now known as ‘ITC Global, A Panasonic Company’ and is operating as an independent unit of Panasonic Avionics.
