The organising team of SIEPA welcomes you to the 17th edition of SIEPA Senegal, taking place on 11-13 June 2019 in Dakar. The organisers of this edition are the Association for the Development of Energy in Africa (ADEA), the Association of Senegal for the Development of Energy in Africa (ASDEA) and AME Trade Ltd.
Recent oil and gas discoveries have emerged in Senegal and Mauritania, but also in other sub-Saharan African countries including Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania. Governments, national societies and international corporations are making joint efforts to develop exploration of these resources.
“The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim deposit between Senegal and Mauritania will produce about 2.5 million tons of LNG from 2022 and about 10 million tons a few years later”
“The production of Sangomar crude will be more than 120,000 barrels of crude per day from 2023”
The joint efforts of corporations and governments go beyond the exploration. The priority of all African States is to accelerate access to energy and in particular access to electricity for rural populations. In order to provide access to electricity to all, industry players are focusing on improving electricity generation capacities and networks. For this, the supply of petroleum products must advanced, which requires refining adaptations and developments but also an efficient transport and distribution network allowing access to fuels.
NEPAD and major international organizations are actively developing initiatives aimed at increasing the electrification rate in sub-Saharan Africa from 40% to over 80% by setting up large production units, mainly powered by natural gas through the creation of decentralized systems (solar, wind …) and by the installation of networks and interconnections.
These new perspectives and the major stakes of energy development will be the subject of lively debates at SIEPA Senegal 2019 with the governments of Senegal and neighboring countries, major energy operators, donors as well as private companies and stakeholders of the oil, gas and energy sectors. SIEPA Energy Professionals Exhibition, as well as the lunches, cocktails and gala, will create an environment conducive for networking & exchanges in a favourable business climate.
