US-based Air Products and Kiewit Energy Group have agreed to work together to pursue smaller-sized liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in North America.
As part of the collaboration, Kiewit Energy and Air Products’ modularised design and technology can be used on projects that produce up to 500,000 gallons per day of LNG using Air Products’ natural gas liquefaction technologies and equipment.
The LNG technology and equipment is expected to be operational in 2017.
“Through this arrangement Air Products and Kiewit will offer a unified approach to customers in this market.”
Kiewit Energy will provide project management, overall engineering and design, construction and commissioning services for the project, while Air Products is set to lead the design and supply the equipment.
Air Products LNG commercial manager Larry Balascak said: “Through this arrangement Air Products and Kiewit will offer a unified approach to customers in this market.
“We are very pleased to be working closely with Kiewit and believe our collaboration will be well received by customers considering smaller LNG facilities.”
The latest agreement between the companies is expected to provide potential customers with a better response to project opportunities.
Kiewit Energy Group senior vice president Dan Lumma said: “Natural gas consumption — particularly in the transportation sector – will have a significant impact on the demand for LNG, and our customers need effective, practical ways to move gas resources to market.
“Working jointly, Kiewit Energy and Air Products offer customers the best combination of performance, cost and delivery.”
Earlier, the companies secured an LNG project, for which Air Products will supply its LNG liquefaction and storage technology to Kiewit.
In turn, Kiewit will be responsible for the facility’s overall engineering and construction.
