Technip wins EPIC contract for Juniper offshore gas project in Trinidad

BP Trinidad and Tobago (BPTT) has awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) contract to Technip for the development of its Juniper offshore gas project.

The project will feature construction of a normally unmanned platform and associated subsea infrastructure.

The project will feature five subsea wells, which will be capable of producing about 590 million standard cubic feet a day (mmscfd) of gas.

Technip's contract covers design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, load out and commissioning works.

The contract requires Technip to supply 4,300 short ton topsides and a 6,100 short ton jacket.

Technip's contract also covers design, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, transport, installation, and precommissioning of five 10in and 8in ID flexible flowlines; 26in outside diameter, 10km concrete coated rigid subsea pipeline.

A diving campaign will be carried out to support clients' liquified natural gas (LNG) train and field turnaround. Technip will also deliver several subsea structures and tie-in spools.

The company will also be responsible for the transport and installation of client supplied umbilicals, trees, and flying leads.

Technip will carry out the entire design, detailed engineering and project management from its operating center in Houston, Texas, US.

The offshore installation is expected to start in the second-half of 2016.

The exact value of the contract was not disclosed but Technip said it will be between €250m and €500m.

Technip North America president Deanna Goodwin said: "This award reinforces Technip's leading position in the offshore and subsea EPIC market of North America Region.

"Leveraging Technip's unique combination of complementary assets, technologies and capabilities, this project offers comprehensive platform and subsea design as well as detailed engineering solutions."

In August, BPTT received approval for the Juniper project, which will become its 14th offshore platform.
